Sprouts

Because many of you are writing to me to ask me if I could prepare an article on this topic with a guide on how to proceed with home germination, it is here. Perhaps I managed to capture the main and the most important points of the whole subject. If you do not find a response, just write to me what I will know, I am happy to answer.

First of all, I would like to write why to actually stomach and consume these sprouts, or at least why do I do it?

They are a cheap source of vitamins of the highest quality! The sprouts have been consumed long ago, so it belongs to our diet since ancient times and nowadays "poisonous" such glass full of fresh germ in organic quality from seeds of genetically unmodified plants becomes a real treasure! They give our body life-giving energy, feel good, strengthen immunity and psyche, and last but not least beauty. I do not think there is a need to think about whether it is better to buy a vitamin box in a pharmacy or to start germinating at home ... I would also like to emphasize that the quality of the seeds is very important to be used for germination. Seeds for cultivation can be treated with pesticides, etc. and therefore always choose the seeds of BIO quality.
For most of you, this information could be quite logical, but not all germinated seeds, such as edible crops, can be consumed ! As an example, I will bring the seeds of melon honeydew whose sprouts are poisonous! Therefore, do not be so experimenting with these experiments and bake the seeds that are destined for it.
You can, of course, buy ready-made sprouts even in the store, but you will never get a guarantee of quality and freshness. In addition, from an economic point of view, the purchased sprouts will be more expensive in a few purchases.

What about the sprouts?

Each germinated plant has a different flavor, so you will find a distinctive, but also completely neutral flavor. For example, my favorite raspberries taste like young and fresh radish. They are great just for bread with butter or salad. Arugula sprouts taste like a rucola. We also prefer it to bread or lettuce or spreads. Munga sprouts I prefer to add to the mungo soup when serving, cool soup refreshes and add fresh and crunchy sprigs to the whole dish like the fresh coriander. The alfalfa is almost without a specific taste, tastes like an overpriced pillow in sandwiches with tuna spread. Etc. I think everyone will find theirs.

How does it work in seeds?

At the moment the seed is transformed through the sprout germinate, a number of enzymes are also emerging, which transforms starches into sugars. The seed is in a word and letter in a timed bomb. The entire plant turns into an incredible reservoir filled with vitamins, minerals, proteins, enzymes. Depending on the type of sprouts, the composition of vitamins and minerals, of course, is different, but it mainly consists of B and C vitamins , minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron and phosphorus , the amount of chlorophyll that regenerates and detoxifies, and last but not least amino acids they support the immune system and metabolism.

How do you know what to do and what to turn around?
I think the most important thing at first is to understand which seeds are best suited. This will prevent unnecessary fluctuation, that something is wrong for the first time.

Behind me is the biggest invention of a glass jar . It is practical, economical and has aesthetic design. It is easy and especially effective to flush the seeds, which is alfou and omega naked, we want to always prevent rotting processes and the occurrence of fungi or harmful microorganisms. The jars, you can purchase a drip ceramic plates and mainly stands where you can comfortably glasses let stand and you know that excess water always comes out. The Kutils will also find a way to create a similar system at home. Glasses are great for the cultivation of Munga, Chickpeas, Radish, Alphalphs, Clover, Lenses and Sprouting Mixes. If you would like to try even more economical solutions, you can make a similar nozzle made by yourself from a glass, cloth or muslin and rubber bands. I screwed up when I wanted to prepare more types of sprouts and I had only one glass at home. It's not that practical anymore, you have to be careful not to let your cloth be released, and of course change it again after every use. This leads to hygiene, because it is especially important for germination. Rinse the seeds more and more frequently, especially in the warm months, and thoroughly wash your aids before re-planting them.

How do they sprout in a glass?

1. Seed the water directly into the glass for about 8 hours to swell and wake up to life. Then pour the water and place it upside down on the drip tray.
2. Flush the seeds twice a day. If you have time, you can even more often, especially in the summer months.
3. Most seeds begin to germinate the next day and can be harvested within 5-7 days. The best ones are of course fresh, but you can store them for a few days in the refrigerator to extend their shelf life. Packaging seeds, outer peel, do not harm or supply a number of vitamins, so you can rinse before eating.

This style in a glass can not be used to shoot all kinds of seeds. These are mainly seeds that, after contact with water around them, form a gel that, when attempting to rinse, will seal the screen so that it can not be dripped!
That's why another great aid was invented, which is dedicated to these seeds. It is a germinating cloth with a ceramic pointer . It was developed to germinate especially the seeds of cress , rucola , chia , linen. You can also grow clover and, for example, radish , mustard , but this can be done without problems and with the advantage of growing in jars.

When you germinate seeds, never expose them to direct sunlight , prefer shade or shade and room temperature (ideally 18-20 ° C).

How are germinating seeds on sprouting bowls?

1. Seeds to soak. For 15 minutes in water the seeds of watermelons, rucola, chia, the one that creates after soaking gel. Other seeds soak for ideally 8 hours to swell. For example, seeds of radish, jelly, broccoli. The amount of seed is dependent on the size of the bowl. For the smallest bowl, the quantity corresponds to about a teaspoon of the seeds, for the largest bowl of about a tablespoon of the seeds.
2. Soak the seeds through the strainer and spread the knife evenly over the entire surface. The sieve has a practical rant, which keeps the seeds where they are supposed to be.
3. For the first two days, it is good to have seeds covered by, for example, a plate or a larger bowl. If necessary, you can moisten them with a sprayer 1-2 times a day.
4. Remove the cover on the third day, moisten with the sprayer in the morning and evening, and as soon as the roots break through the sieve, rinse the plants under a gentle stream of water instead of dampening. You will also get rid of partial seeds. You will harvest the crop within 6-8 days. Consume the sprouts and roots because there are also many vitamins.

If you love the heat, you will find out that one glass or a non-sticking bowl is not enough for you, but you will be able to employ just a few of them at the same time. :-) As I wrote in the introduction, if I did not answer the article in what you wanted to know, write and I'll know, I'd like to answer.)
